Taking Care of Your Exotic Wood Earrings/Necklaces

Exotic wood needs extra care. Your one of a kind piece was finished with an organic oil blend (beeswax, orange oil, and sometimes a hint of coconut or olive oil). Earrings and necklaces are NOT waterproof.

If you accidentally get them saturated with water, do not worry, and let them dry. Depending on how much the piece absorbed will determine what to do next. If the texture has gone from smooth to gritty, you will need to very, very lightly sand the piece with 320 grit sandpaper and then lightly coat with coconut oil, olive oil or butcher block conditioner (which you can find at any hardware store) and wipe away the excess.

Over time, wood tends to loose its vibrant colors. Good news! They can come back within seconds. Its always good to keep wood hydrated and COCONUT OIL or OLIVE OIL is a great way to keep your wood conditioned. A little bit goes a long way. I like to put a little on my fingertips and gently rub into the wood and then wipe off the excess with a clean cloth. You can also use butcher block conditioner if you happen to have that on hand.

If you have purchased a piece that includes SPALTED MAPLE use coconut oil to keep the wood vibrant and nourished. Spalted Maple is a dryer wood and might need to be polished more often.

Cutting Board Care:

Any kind of butcher block conditioner can be used on the cutting boards, as frequent as needed/wanted. All boards are NOT dishwasher safe. They should be washed gently with mild soap and wiped dry.
